Yoast SEO, Rank Math and AI visibility: when should you add Semly?

Yoast SEO and Rank Math help manage SEO in WordPress, and their offerings now include AI monitoring. Before adding Semly, check the measurements available to you and your team’s needs. This guide shows how to divide responsibilities and avoid paying for the same monitoring twice.

SEO settings connected to an AI response card, a magnifying glass and a document, illustrating SEO plugins working with monitoring and content creation.

You have configured an SEO plugin, but want to know whether ChatGPT or Gemini mentions your company. Start by reviewing the features you already have. Not every gap requires a different plugin or another subscription.

Below you will find a comparison of tool responsibilities and a decision checklist for your team. We checked the feature descriptions against the manufacturers’ documentation on 4 October 2026. This is a comparison of capabilities, not an effectiveness test or a ranking of guaranteed results.

Separate SEO configuration, content creation and AI monitoring

A single offering can contain three different types of features. Their names often include “AI”, but they answer different questions.

Type of workWhat question does it answer? What do you check?
Website SEO configurationAre we describing the page and managing its settings correctly?Metadata, canonical URLs, indexing, sitemaps and structured data.
AI-assisted content creationDoes the tool help prepare or improve a resource?Suggested copy, titles and descriptions, and their factual accuracy.
AI response monitoringWhat do the systems say about the brand for selected questions?Stored responses, mentions, sources, competitors and changes over time.

A generated SEO description is an output of content work. It does not measure your presence in AI responses. Likewise, a good plugin content score does not show how many responses cite your website.

Our GEO for WordPress guide covers technical preparation of the whole site. Here, we focus on choosing tools for these three tasks.

What does Yoast offer for AI monitoring?

Yoast AI Brand Insights is part of Yoast SEO AI+. According to Yoast’s current feature description, it analyses mentions, sentiment, citations and competitors in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. It runs in a browser and does not require CMS access.

The manufacturer describes weekly analyses and the option to set up to five brand questions. The AI Brand Insights instructions explain brand configuration and how to start an analysis. Check the current terms of your plan before purchasing.

If that scope meets your needs, assess the available results first. Needing AI monitoring is not, on its own, a reason to leave Yoast or buy a second tool. Check whether the questions fit your offering and whether the report supports a concrete decision.

What does Rank Math offer for AI monitoring?

Rank Math AI Visibility is a separate feature within Rank Math AI. The manufacturer’s documentation describes monitoring for ChatGPT and Google Gemini, country and language selection, and analysis frequency that depends on the plan. It includes queries and responses, competitors, sentiment and citations. The manufacturer also describes JSON report exports.

Distinguish AI Visibility from Content AI. The former observes brand presence; the latter supports content creation and improvement. The Rank Math AI feature guide explains this distinction.

If you use Rank Math, check your active subscription and available modules. Do not assume that installing the basic plugin automatically grants access to the entire AI package. Equally, do not judge the current offering by an old comparison that only covers text generation.

When should you add Semly to your existing plugin?

Semly can serve as a platform for analysing brand presence, customer questions, competitors and sources in AI responses. It lets you revisit stored responses and observe results over time. Match the available systems and measurements to your active plan.

Semly also offers content work and WordPress publishing integration. The guide to publishing from Semly to WordPress explains this broader process. Monitoring and publishing serve different purposes: sending an article to a CMS does not prove that an AI system has cited it.

Consider Semly if you need to connect response analysis with regular content work, or manage brands, questions or systems that your current package does not cover. Verify that gap with a specific example first. Do not assume that every setup needs Semly as an additional layer.

Working alongside an SEO plugin can mean a simple division of responsibilities: the plugin manages site configuration, while Semly helps observe responses and organise content work. This does not imply automatic data synchronisation between Yoast, Rank Math and Semly. This guide describes a workflow, not a confirmed integration of all three products.

How can you decide whether a second monitoring tool is needed?

Prepare a short set of questions that matter to customers and ask each candidate tool to show what it can do with them. If identical questions or conditions are not possible, record the difference. Two metrics called “AI visibility” may measure different things.

CriterionWhat should you compare in the active plan?
Questions and marketCustom questions, language, country, and separate branded and unbranded questions.
SystemsThe specific AI products and modes your customers actually use.
EvidenceThe full response, measurement date, sources and access to a specific URL.
RegularityFrequency, history, and handling of errors and missing data.
Team workflowNumber of brands, collaborator access, reporting and turning findings into tasks.
Content and publishingDo you need observation alone, or content preparation and publishing too?
CostTotal cost of the required scope, limits and functions you already have elsewhere.

Do not compare visibility percentages alone across platforms. Different questions, models, dates or brand recognition rules can produce different results without either tool being wrong. Assess measurement comparability and access to responses first, then report usability.

If your current solution meets the requirements, use it. If an important system or workflow is missing, test a complementary solution. If two products do the same work, choose the primary reporting source and justify any second measurement.

How do you connect measurement with WordPress work?

The proposed workflow has five steps: customer question, response and source review, editorial task, WordPress deployment and repeat measurement. Each step produces a different output.

The diagram illustrates a proposed workflow, not automatic product integration or a promise of growth.

Imagine customers asking about requirements for integrating a store with a warehouse. A competitor’s documentation appears in the responses. You check that source and your own offering, then notice a missing list of technical requirements. The resulting task is to improve an existing page rather than publish another generic article.

After the change, the person managing WordPress checks that page’s SEO settings. The monitoring owner returns to the same questions and records the result. See the article on planning a before-and-after test for a content update for a detailed comparison plan.

Why are a plugin score and llms.txt not enough?

A plugin’s content score is editorial guidance. It is not a Google quality rating or a guaranteed ChatGPT recommendation. The Yoast guide explains feedback and green indicators.

Google’s guidance on generative Search features states that visibility in these features does not require special Schema.org markup or an llms.txt file. This applies to Google Search; it does not describe every AI service’s rules.

Improve content for the reader, not solely for a dashboard score. Do not publish many nearly identical pages for variations of the same question. Google’s spam policies cover scaled content abuse, and using AI does not remove the need to assess usefulness.

Checklist before adding another tool

  • I know which SEO, content creation and monitoring functions my subscription includes.
  • I have a specific list of questions, systems and markets to monitor.
  • I checked full responses and sources, not just an aggregate metric.
  • I can identify a task my current solution cannot handle.
  • I compared limits and the total cost of the required scope.
  • I selected a primary reporting source and a person responsible for measurement.
  • During deployment, I will check for duplicated metadata and schema configurations.
  • I have a plan to verify the result after the content change.

FAQ: Yoast, Rank Math and Semly

Do Yoast and Rank Math already monitor AI visibility?

Yes. Yoast offers AI Brand Insights in AI+, while Rank Math offers AI Visibility within Rank Math AI. Check availability, supported systems and limits for your specific subscription.

Do I have to buy Semly if I use Yoast or Rank Math?

No. First assess whether your current monitoring meets your requirements. Consider Semly when you confirm a gap in the analysis you need or in your content and publishing workflow.

Does Semly replace WordPress SEO configuration?

In this workflow, Semly supports analysis and content work, while the chosen plugin manages the site’s SEO settings. Do not assume that connecting monitoring will automatically change metadata, canonical URLs or indexing configuration.

Can visibility results from different tools be compared directly?

Only after checking measurement definitions and conditions. If questions, systems, periods or calculation methods differ, the percentages describe different datasets and do not form a reliable ranking of tools.

How does Query Fanout work in AI? A complete guide

In 2025, the way people search for information on the Internet has changed fundamentally. Google AI Mode, ChatGPT and other AI systems no longer display simple lists of links - instead, they break down your question into dozens of related sub-questions, look for answers in multiple sources simultaneously and synthesize them into one complete answer. If you run an online store, create content or work on GEO - understanding the query fanout mechanism is not an option, but a necessity for your brand to be visible in the era of AI-powered search.

Visibility in ChatGPT or paid ads?

Most online stores base sales on Google Ads and Meta Ads. This works, but the cost per click goes up and the margin goes down. At the same time, customers are increasingly asking ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity instead of clicking on ads. Google AI Overviews are also appearing, which reduce classic traffic from the search engine. This article shows how e-commerce can gradually shift budget from ads to GEO, SEO and AI visibility, without risking lost sales and without abruptly shutting down campaigns.

How do you get ChatGPT and other AI models to recommend your services?

More and more buying decisions today start not with Google, but with a question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity. This is where users ask for recommendations of specific service companies - law firms, agencies, software houses or medical specialists. If your brand doesn't appear in the models' responses, you're losing real leads. Here's a complete step-by-step GEO strategy to help you change that.
